PPC is the first provider to successfully complete the new EEBUS certification. This confirms that, within the certified scope of functionality, the PPC solution meets the requirements of the EEBUS specifications and interoperates seamlessly with other EEBUS-certified devices. The new EEBUS certification goes significantly beyond the previous EEBUS pilot qualifications.

With Daikin Industries Ltd. in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector and Power Plus Communications AG (PPC) in the smart metering sector, two members of the Nessum Alliance are demonstrating how IEEE 1901-based technology can be integrated into existing infrastructures.
5G RedCap for Smart Meter Rollout: E.ON Grid Solutions, Westnetz, Telefónica Deutschland, and PPC Test New Mobile Communication Technology
Telefónica Deutschland, E.ON Grid Solutions, Westnetz, and Power Plus Communications AG (PPC) have successfully tested 5G RedCap as a new mobile communication technology for smart meter gateways. To do this, a 5G RedCap-enabled smart meter gateway from PPC was connected to the meter operator’s backend systems via Telefónica Deutschland’s 700-MHz network. This allowed the partners to simulate the entire communication chain under conditions close to real-world scenarios—from the smart meter gateway through the cellular network to the meter operator’s systems.
Project launch IKTres: Resilient Communication for Smart Distribution Networks
Through the IKTres innovation project, launched in May, PPC is working with partners from the research and energy sectors to develop preventive and corrective measures to make information and communication technology (ICT) in smart distribution grids more resilient to disruptions and outages. The focus is on the infrastructure of smart metering systems (iMSys), the network management system (NMS), and the digital grid twin.

Energy Metering Becomes the First Metering Point Operator to Sign an SMGWplus Contract with PPC
With the SMGWplus, Energy Metering aims to further advance the digitization and scaling of its rollout. At the same time, the solution lays the groundwork for new and existing B2B partnerships. The company has set a goal of digitizing more than 1 million metering points in the coming years. Energy Metering, Calisen and PPC conclude largest meter asset provider agreement for the German market
Strong momentum for the rollout of smart meters in Germany: PPC, Energy Metering and Calisen conclude the largest Meter Asset Provider (MAP) agreement for the German market. In the MAP model, Calisen purchases and owns intelligent metering systems (iMSys) and leases these assets to wMSB Energy Metering on a long-term basis. As a competitive metering point operator, Energy Metering installs the iMSys as part of its services by its own customers. Calisen is thus making international capital available for the German smart meter rollout.
