Reliable communication from the basement is a key prerequisite for the smart meter roll-out. At the same time, many metering point operators wish to plan their BPL infrastructure as independently as possible with a view to selecting an SMGW at a later date. With the Nessum 1T module, PPC is therefore expanding its portfolio to include a flexible connectivity solution: this compact DIN-rail module connects Ethernet SMGWs from various manufacturers to the BPL network via IP. This ensures connectivity at the installation site without having to tie the BPL roll-out to a specific gateway hardware solution.
Standard solution and flexibility
PPC’s integrated BPL Smart Meter Gateway remains the first choice for a cost-effective and streamlined roll-out. However, the Nessum 1T module specifically complements this solution for projects where greater freedom of choice regarding manufacturers or existing SMGW strategies are required. In this way, PPC aims to offer customers both options and bridge any gaps: an optimally integrated standard solution and the necessary flexibility for cross-vendor roll-out scenarios.
