Enlit Europe 2025: Interoperability as the foundation of the future energy system

Interoperability is no longer just a buzzword – as Enlit Europe has now impressively demonstrated. It is becoming the backbone of an intelligent, resilient and sustainable energy system.

For us at Power Plus Communications AG (PPC), one key message took centre stage: Next Generation Smart Metering and Smart Grids – Connecting what Energy needs next.

Strong partnerships at the Nessum Plugfest

Nessum Plugfest

At the first Nessum Plugfest, which took place in Bilbao at Enlit Europe, PPC joined forces with leading global partners to demonstrate successful interoperability and stable communication based on the Nessum standard. This open, robust standard shows how scalable and reliable data transmission can be achieved in the energy sector.

Special thanks go to partners ECOLINQX, GE Vernova, Giga Fast, Helvetia and Teldat, who contributed to the success of the event.

Practical live demonstration at the ESMIG stand

At the ESMIG stand, visitors were able to experience live how smart metering and EEBUS are already interacting today. Our live demonstration showed specific use cases for cross-sector communication – from meter infrastructure to building automation.

Products and solutions from our partners, including EEBUS Initiative e.V., Apator, Netinium, KOSTAL Group and Kontron eSystems GmbH, were featured.

NextGen smart metering as a building block of the smart grid

The discussions and presentations at the trade fair made it clear:
Next-generation smart metering is becoming the foundation of a broadband, cyber-resilient smart grid.
This infrastructure enables new services, improves network transparency and increases the intelligence of the overall system.

At the same time, a clear trend is emerging: system-centric solutions that connect and orchestrate flexible and controllable devices behind the meter. They increase the resilience, flexibility and efficiency of energy flows.

PPC focuses on modular, interoperable future technologies

Our mission remains the same: to provide secure, interoperable and modular solutions that enable a scalable, flexible and future-proof energy system. These are precisely the characteristics that tomorrow’s smart grid needs. The technologies to achieve this are already available today.

Thank you for the exchange

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all visitors, partners and discussion partners at Enlit Europe. The inspiring discussions show how dynamic the industry is and how important cooperation remains.

Together, we are shaping the future of next-generation smart metering.
