The path to RLM integration: PPC brings industrial metering into the smart meter gateway
The smart meter roll-out is progressing – yet, despite the relevant regulatory requirements, metering for industrial and commercial customers has so far often taken place via a separate, parallel infrastructure that bypasses the smart metering system. The basis for SMGW reusability: PPC implements the ‘DoDeleteUserData’ function
Once a smart meter gateway has been installed and commissioned, personal data is recorded. To protect personal data, it has therefore not been possible to reuse such gateways until now. The ‘DoDeleteUserData’ function, which PPC has now implemented, lays the groundwork for reuse and enables a smart meter gateway that has already been commissioned to be reinstalled at a different location.

Energy Metering Becomes the First Metering Point Operator to Sign an SMGWplus Contract with PPC
With the SMGWplus, Energy Metering aims to further advance the digitization and scaling of its rollout. At the same time, the solution lays the groundwork for new and existing B2B partnerships. The company has set a goal of digitizing more than 1 million metering points in the coming years.
