The PPC BPL System
The components of PPC’s broadband powerline solution work seamlessly together to transform power grids into information superhighways. Our latest-generation system is based on the IEEE 1901-2020 (Nessum) standard —the most versatile, interoperable, and high-performance standard for broadband powerline.
Integrated, robust, and cost-effective
Install, connect to power—online. No time-consuming LTE reception testing, no expensive BPL add-on module. PPC’s BPL SMGW offers the most cost-effective solution for connecting to a broadband powerline network. Thanks to its repeating function, each BPL SMGW also boosts the network in which it is installed.
To ensure a stable BPL network, we recommend installing a repeater in every cable distribution cabinet. This strengthens the network. Thanks to its built-in sensor, each BPL repeater (sensor) measures the voltage across all three phases in real time at the installation site. This improves the monitorability of your low-voltage network.
How is data transmitted from the local network station? With its cellular backbone—including an internal SIM slot and an antenna on the circuit board—the BPL headend (LTE) enables data transmission from the BPL cell. Compact and waterproof, it fits into any cable distribution cabinet.
Customizable, compact, flexible
Want to connect additional SMGWs to your BPL network via Ethernet? With the Nessum 1T module , you can do it in a single step. Thanks to its slim DIN-rail design, the module fits right next to the SMGW.
Want to use your own WAN infrastructure and save on operating costs in the long term? The BPL Headend (ETH) 6A makes it possible. Thanks to its DIN-rail design, it fits into any “ICT cabinet” and thus into your ISMS concept for the digital local network station.
BPL SMGWs, repeaters, and headends can all be conveniently monitored using the PPC Network Management System. Monitoring your communications network (including, for example, the communications modules of your LTE SMGWs) has never been easier.
