Mannheim \/ Ludwigshafen, December 17, 2025: Power <\/strong>Plus CommunicationsAG <\/strong>(PPC) and its subsidiary Coms4Grid, together with Pfalzwerke Netz AG, have successfully launched a large-scale WAN-as-a-Service project. The rollout began in early October 2025 and marks an important step toward the digitization of the energy infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate.<\/p>

The first 1,000 WAN-as-a-Service endpoints were already put into operation in 2025. Further expansion is proceeding rapidly: The connection of 15,000 endpoints is planned for 2026. Currently, 5,000 units are being installed.<\/p>

In a preparatory on-site workshop, the technicians from Pfalzwerke Netz AG received targeted training on the installation steps and potential technical challenges. In addition, Coms4Grid not only provides the necessary BPL hardware and connection accessories but also handles the technical connection to the gateway administrator (GWA)\u2014a service that significantly reduces the installation effort. Through additional services, Coms4Grid ensures a professional powerline installation and, consequently, smooth and reliable operation. The PPC Network Management System (NMS) is used for network-side monitoring, enabling real-time monitoring of the entire BPL infrastructure, including the latest Nessum Generation 6 and SMGW connectivity. Installers gain access to the NMS via the NMS Connector app.<\/p>

The rollout covers the Vorderpfalz region, extending into the Palatinate Forest and the Donnersberg district, including R\u00f6merberg, Limburgerhof, Harthausen, Kandel, Eu\u00dferthal, Trippstadt, Bann, Contwig, and Rockenhausen. In doing so, Coms4Grid and Pfalzwerke Netz AG are creating a high-performance communications infrastructure to meet the ever-growing demands of modern power grids. Roland Klaiber, Managing Director of Coms4Grid, comments: \u201cThe guaranteed high connectivity of more than 90% for the SMGWs in the basement enhances the efficiency and resilience of the rollout. The technological foundation and the strong collaboration with Pfalzwerke Netz AG and Voltaris ensure a successful rollout.\u201d<\/p>

As a regional grid operator, Pfalzwerke Netz AG, together with its installation partners, provides the installation capacity and regional on-site expertise needed to ensure rapid implementation. Voltaris GmbH (a 50% subsidiary of Pfalzwerke Aktiengesellschaft) handles equipment procurement, quality assurance (QA), and certified gateway administration, thereby providing key services and expert knowledge for the successful implementation of the project. Pfalzwerke Netz AG is driving digitalization for the energy transition toward a smart grid of the future for Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to broadband powerline, Pfalzwerke Netz AG is also deploying other SMGW technologies, including LTE and 450 MHz, to meet rollout requirements.
