Contract Signing at The smarter E Europe Marks Next Step in Scalable Control Rollout<\/strong><\/p>\n Munich \/ Mannheim, June 24, 2026: Energy Metering and PPC signed a contract at this year\u2019s The smarter E Europe for the use of SMGWplus. Energy Metering is thus the first competitive metering point operator to secure PPC\u2019s new solution for control via the smart meter gateway.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div> With SMGWplus, Energy Metering aims to further advance the digitalization and scaling of its rollout and tap into additional efficiency potential. At the same time, the solution lays the groundwork for new and existing B2B partnerships. Energy Metering is thus accelerating the implementation of business models centered on controllable consumption devices and decentralized flexibility solutions, such as wallboxes, photovoltaic systems, and heat pumps. The company has set a goal of digitizing more than 1 million metering points in the coming years.<\/p>\n The SMGWplus expands the functionality of the Smart Meter Gateway beyond mere meter reading transmission. The software update enables SMGWs to securely control systems and consumption devices directly from the SMGW. Control commands are transmitted to downstream systems or a HEMS via EEBUS in a standardized, highly secure, and regulatory-compliant manner. This provides grid operators, metering point operators, and other market participants with, among other things, a scalable foundation for implementing the requirements of Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) or Section 9 of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).<\/p>\n \u201cWith the SMGWplus, we are creating the conditions to tap into the urgently needed flexibility for the energy system.
