The VDE FNN has elected a new committee, which takes office in April 2021:

  • Dr. Joachim Kabs, Bayernwerk Netz GmbH, Chairman
  • Dr. Dirk Biermann, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, Vice Chairman
  • Ingo Schönberg, Power Plus Communications AG, Vice Chairman
  • Ansgar Hinz, VDE e. V., VDE Board Member

The VDE FNN or Network Technology/Network Operation Forum is the technical regulator for power grids in Germany.

Schönberg was already a member of the FNN management committee ‘Forum’, which steers the VDE FNN, and until the end of 2023 he will also be part of the expert group “Fachkreis Hersteller / Industrie / Dienstleister” (the Manufacturers / Industry / Service Providers Group)”.

VDE FNN Managing Director Heike Kerber congratulated the three new committee members: “On behalf of the Forum and the office, I wish Dr. Kabs, Dr. Biermann and Mr. Schönberg every success in their new roles. I look forward to working with the new board.”

PPC is a long-standing member of the VDE FNN and actively participates in various working groups, for topics such as “Electronic Delivery Notes”, “Secure Logistics Chains” and “Flexible Grid Operations”.

What is the role of the VDE FNN?

The Forum for Network Technology/Operation in the VDE (VDE FNN) oversees the development of Germany’s power networks.  The overarching goal is to make innovative technologies practicable and provide answers to future grid technology challenges. To this end, various expert groups with different interests work together to find solutions. Members include more than 470 manufacturers, grid operators, utilities, plant operators, public authorities and scientific institutions.
