The third working group meeting for IEEE P1901.1 took place on 28-29 June, 2017 in Mannheim, Germany.
P1901.1 is an IEEE project to develop a PLC standard for Smart Metering communications initially driven with input from the Chinese market. PPChosted the meeting to help provide input on European requirements for Smart Grid as well as Smart Metering. Several European companies, including PPC, made presentations and technical contributions on this.
The meeting in Mannheim worked on detailing and improving the technical aspects of the draft standard. The P1901.1 Working Group is made up of individual voting members from around the world with engineers from China, Germany, India, Poland, Spain, and the USA. IEEE projects to develop a standard typically are completed within 2-3 years.
PPC was honoured to host the group at its Mannheim Headquarters and promote a successful and productive two days, and congratulate the working group on achieving significant progress in the definition of the standard.
