Together with our local partner Mikronika we implement BPL communication for smart metering and substation automation in Poland in the city Kleszczow. The aim of the project was to establish telecommunication connections between all end customers electricity meters and fibre optic backbone network of the local energy distributor. Additional a telecommunication connection between RTU's in MV/LV substations and the supervising system of energy grid should be implemented, in order to enable mapping of the switch locations, measurements of MV/LV grid parameters, and access control.
In the first step the existing fibre backbone was extended with BPL over medium voltage underground cables by the connection of the existing MV transformer stations. The distances between these stations differed between 200 and 1800 meters.
